Arestin

What is Arestin?

Arestin is a localized, time-released antibiotic (minocycline HCL) used in conjunction with scaling and root planing (deep cleanings) to destroy and reduce aggressive bacteria that contribute to bone and tissue destruction seen with periodontal disease. Arestin is a wonderful resource because it is placed directly into the pocket of an affected tooth, requiring no post-op removal. The antibiotic works for up to 21 days, fighting infection at the source.

Am I a good candidate for Arestin placement?

Arestin isn’t used for every patient. Your clinician will use this antibiotic at post-op visits after the scaling and root planing or throughout periodontal maintenance therapy as needed.
