Over four million patients have chosen Invisalign to straighten their teeth.
And, an added bonus of Invisalign, the trays can double as whitening trays allowing patients to whiten their teeth as they straighten.
You may think that getting your teeth straightened with Invisalign is just for cosmetic reasons. However, misaligned teeth can lead to significant premature wear, cracking and chipping of teeth, damaged fillings, tooth loss, bruxism (clenching and grinding) and gum disease.
At Sloan’s Lake Dental, we emphasize prevention. So we may recommend that you consider getting your bite corrected orthodontically. Invisalign is a great easy way to address or avoid these negative conditions caused by a misaligned bite and/or crooked teeth.
We begin by taking a 3-D digital scan of your teeth. This creates images which allow us to see exactly what is happening with your bite and strategically plan the exact movement for each tooth. We will also provide you with a virtual representation of how your straightened teeth will look once the Invisalign treatment is complete. The 3-dimensional scan guides the fabrication of your aligners trays, which will be ready within one to two weeks.
As you wear your aligners, they gradually shift your teeth. We’ll provide you with a series of aligners every two weeks, which will continue to move your teeth to their ideal position. The length of treatment for an adult is typically around 6 months.
To achieve the most effective treatment, we suggest that you wear your aligners 20-22 hours a day. The aligners are removable, so you can easily remove aligners to eat, brush, and floss your teeth as you normally would.
The cost will depend on the difficulty of the individual case and how many aligners you will need. However, most people find paying for Invisalign affordable because often insurance covers part of the cost.
No, each tray moves the teeth ¼ of a mm, on average your teeth feel slightly sore the first day of each new tray, but that is all. Typically you will change to a new tray every 1 or 2 weeks.
